About Me

I have been a scholar, an academic at heart and in practice, for most of my life. I love to learn, and pass along what I have learned to other people.

I am an aspiring writer of speculative fiction, spending much of my leisure time taking writing lessons, reading books on writing, and attending conventions for writers.

In my day job for most of my life I was an Associate Professor of Computing in the School of Computing at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. I received a Ph.D. in 1983 from Carnegie- Mellon, and am a senior life member of  IEEE, and life member of Sigma Xi
