About Me

I have been a scholar, an academic at heart and in practice, for most of my life. I love to learn, and pass along what I have learned to other people.

I am an aspiring writer of speculative fiction, spending much of my leisure time taking writing lessons, reading books on writing, and attending conventions for writers.

In my day job I am an Associate Professor of Computing in the School of Computing at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. I received a Ph.D. in 1983 from Carnegie- Mellon, and am a member of  ACM, senior life member of  IEEE, and life member of Sigma Xi
